About

Davina’s practice is predominantly concerned with the emotional resonance of place.  Whether working on large-scale landscapes or smaller organic abstract studies, she draws inspiration for her paintings from the places she has travelled to, hiked or walked through.  Using her own source material, she recalls the places that resonate for her and, through her play with oil paint, seeks to create an energy as close as possible to that of her own observations and lived experience of being stood within nature and its elements. Whilst her influences and preoccupations may change, she maintains a strong association throughout her work with her constant enquiry into colour and mark, and how its application creates a push and pull, bouncing the eye around the surface.

Davina is a British painter who works and lives in Berkshire.  She was born in 1966 in Derbyshire and, after having travelled extensively and worked in London for a number of years, she completed her Foundation at Chelsea School of Art, BA in Fine Art Painting between 2000 and 2003 at Camberwell College of Art, followed by an MA in Fine Art Painting (Distinction) in 2004 at Winchester School of Art.  Davina undertook an Artist’s residency at St Paul’s Cathedral School and has exhibited in open calls, group and solo shows in London and around the UK.  She has been working predominantly to commission over the last few years, whilst bringing up her family and helping with her husband’s busines. She is now enjoying dedicating much more time to her practice.
